American Idol Season 21, Second Megan Danielle has been very busy since she joined the reality singing competition series in 2023. Megan, a then 21-year-old waitress from Douglasville, Georgia, placed second to winner Iam Tongi. She had one of the most memorable auditions when singer Lauren Daigle surprised her with a duet while singing her song “You Say” for judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. Lauren’s mother Morgan, a American Idol alumnus, was in a non-televised group appearance with Lauren during the Las Vegas round of Season 11.


Through American Idol Season 21, Megan was phenomenal throughout. She made songs such as “The Chain,” “Holy Water,” “Thank God I Do,” “Angel from Montgomery,” “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” “Head Over Feet,” “You Can’t Stop the Girl,” “Carried Me with You,” “God Whispered Your Name,” and “Faithfully” her own. Following the success of her first single “Dream Girl,” Megan shared several more songs on Instagram, including her original song “Where I’m Home.” In April 2024, Megan released a duet of contemporary Christian singer Ben Fuller’s song “I Got Jesus” with the artist himselfIn an Instagram post Ben shared that Megan tagged him on Instagram when she sang a cover of the song, and he believed every word. A few weeks later, they recorded the duet.

In an Instagram post Megan shared that after hearing “I Got Jesus” for the first time, “My jaw literally dropped” and you “cried and cried.” She added that she “shocked” that he asked her to sing it with him. Megan wrote: “This song touched my heart because the message is so powerful and relatable. If all we have is Jesus, that’s all we’ll ever need.” Finally, she thanked Ben and wrote: “Thank you, Ben, for asking me to sing with you. You are so gifted and I am honored.”

After American Idol Season 21, Megan toured the country and played in various locationsIn summer 2023 it opened for American Idol Winner of season 16 Maddie Poppe on her tour. In December 2023 Megan opened for Iam in his home state of Hawaii. In an Instagram post Megan shared a video of herself and Iam singing a duet of Larry Fleet’s song “Where I Find God.” She also performed as an opening act for contemporary Christian musicians Ben Fuller and We The Kingdom.


American Idol was just the beginning for Megan. From her first audition it was clear that she wanted to share something special with the world.
