Post Malone released his new song ‘Pour Me A Drink’ with Blake Shelton on Friday after the two had been hinting for some time that they were working on a collaboration, and now there’s a music video just in time to name “Pour Me A Drink” as the song of the summer.

According to Google, the general components of a “song of the summer” are: (1) the song must be upbeat and cheerful, (2) the song must be danceable and have too much energy, (3) it should contain summer-related themes (such as drinking) throughout, and (4) it should contain an element of nostalgia.

Call me crazy, but “Pour Me A Drink” by Post Malone featuring Blake Shelton checks all of those boxes, doesn’t it?

It’s been a real pleasure watching Post Malone jump between genres over the past few months. For Malone to release “Pour Me A Drink” with Blake Shelton just months after appearing on the best song on Taylor Swift’s new album shows that Post is as firmly entrenched in the music industry’s “A-list” as one can be.

“Pour Me A Drink” by Post Malone feat. Blake Shelton is being played tens of thousands of times an hour. In the first few hours it is at 250,000 listeners and in the first 24 hours it will easily exceed the million mark.

This song will be featured on Post’s upcoming country music album, F-1 billionwhich I’m pretty sure I saw guerrilla marketing for it over the weekend in the form of a weird billboard that went viral on social media, but maybe my brain is just playing tricks on me.

“Pour Me A Drink” is the most classic summer country rock song you can find. It has all the elements of a good time with good people. What’s not to like? “Somebody pour me a drink, someone bum me a smoke” are lyrics that remind me that we don’t always have to overanalyze music. Sometimes it’s just about having a damn good time.

Considering all of that, the sheer amount of Bud Light featured in this music video is astonishing. The bright blue Bud Light cans are everywhere and unmistakable. This is definitely a big win for Bud Light.
