Taylor Casey, 41, is missing in the Bahamas after traveling to a yoga certification retreat on Paradise Island and was not heard from for nearly a week.

A Chicago woman is missing in the Bahamas after not being seen since last week, police said.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force is currently searching for 41-year-old Taylor Casey, according to a Facebook post the police department published on Friday.

Casey was last seen on June 19 in the Paradise Island area of ​​Nassau, Bahamas, police said. It is unclear what clothing she is wearing or if she is in any danger.

USA TODAY contacted the Royal Bahamas Police Force on Monday but did not receive a response.

Why was Taylor Casey in the Bahamas?

According to a Facebook group created for her called “Finding Taylor Casey,” Casey was in the Bahamas for a yoga certification retreat.

“I am in shock right now and can’t believe I am writing this post. Taylor is such a sweet person who cares so much about the community,” Anna DeShawn, a member of the Facebook group, said in a post on Monday.

The Paradise Island yoga retreat center noticed that Casey was not attending class on June 19, so her family was notified the next day, according to DeShawn.

Casey’s family is preparing for a trip to the Bahamas, the Facebook group wrote in a post Monday afternoon.

“We send our love, prayers and energy to Taylor’s family as she begins her journey to the Bahamas,” the social media post reads. “Together we share our strength and determination to find our beloved Taylor.”
