Borussia Dortmund sees Chris Führich as an alternative to Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund is considering bringing Chris Führich back to the club. The VfB Stuttgart winger would be a possible alternative to Jadon Sancho.

Signing a new winger seems to be on Borussia Dortmund’s priority list for this summer transfer window. And as it becomes increasingly unlikely that Jadon Sancho will stay with the Black and Yellows, a reunion with Chris Führich could possibly be on the cards. According to BILD, BVB bosses are considering a move for the 26-year-old, who has had an excellent season at VfB Stuttgart.

A transfer of Führich would cost Borussia Dortmund around 26 million euros due to an exit clause in his contract. The winger scored eight goals and assisted seven more in the current Bundesliga season and also fought his way into the German national team squad for the 2024 European Championship. His current contract with Stuttgart runs for another four years.

Führich is not new territory for Borussia Dortmund: He came through the club’s youth teams and played for the U23 team before moving to SC Paderborn in 2020.

Führich has had a meteoric rise since leaving Borussia Dortmund and is said to have attracted the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

BVB do not have to compete with Bayern Munich for the German international’s signing, as Bayern are close to signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. However, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also still in the race for the winger.

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly had their eye on a number of VfB Stuttgart players this summer. They are close to signing Stuttgart captain Waldemar Anton and are also favourites to sign Serhou Guirassy. And it will be interesting to see if Chris Führich joins the duo at the Westfalenstadion next season.
