Canadian singer-songwriter Michael Dane is a born storyteller whose journey has been marked by a lifetime of victories and setbacks. He is not afraid to share his weaknesses and emotions, which makes him and his music relatable and soulful. His unique blend of country, rock and singer-songwriter has earned him five nominations to date for Male Artist of the Year at the Country Music Association of Ontario Awards.

What sets Marshall apart is his use of American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate with the deaf communityAs the son of a pastor, he was instilled with a strong sense of compassion and inclusivity. Since learning ASL in 2017, he has incorporated the language into his performances to break down barriers and make his music accessible.

He co-wrote his new single, “No need to speak,” with award-winning singer-songwriter Rosanne Baker Thornley (RBT). “The motive was my appreciation, my understanding and my belief that we don’t need words to understand each other. We just need to pay attention, use our eyes and our hearts,” says Marshall. “If there is someone you love and you want to show that person your feelings and you want them to be able to count on you in that moment, then this song will give you support.”
