Sabrina Carpenter has an unexpectedly famous aunt (no, she’s not one of the Carpenters)

When Nancy Cartwright herself spoke to Capital FM in March 2021, she clarified that she is not biologically related to Sabrina Carpenter. Rather, “her grandmother married my father.” The “Rugrats” voice actress noted that she only met the “Nonsense” singer when Carpenter was on the verge of puberty. At the time, she was trying to make it big in show business after landing a few minor roles. Naturally, Cartwright wanted to help her young relative, so she let the Carpenter family spend several nights at her home to give them a better taste of life in Hollywood. Cartwright also supported the “Feather” singer professionally by opening the door to an acting agency for her. However, she stressed that the singer-songwriter only got through because of her enormous talent. Still, social media users were not convinced that Carpenter had not used nepotism to advance her career.

In a discussion on the r/popculturechat subreddit, one frustrated commenter wrote, “This happens every time a ‘new star is born’ and they happen to be related to someone already in the industry. I wonder how many more capable people get wiped out because of the constant nepotism.” Others took issue with her connection because Cartwright has ties to Scientology. Some Redditors even speculated that the “Nonsense” singer was following in her footsteps by joining the controversial religious organization. However, others defended Carpenter with a screenshot of her denying the rumor.
