The race for the song of the summer 2024 has begun. What is your favorite? | Story

Post Malone. Morgan Wallen. Sabrina Carpenter. Whose song will dominate this summer?

This is what Billboard is tracking with its annual “Songs of the Summer” list.

The American music magazine tracks the performance of songs on its Hot 100 charts between June 8 and September 7.

The chart is cumulative, meaning it adds up all the plays for each week to get a running total.

The Hot 100 charts are based on the number of times a song was played during that week, so the two lists don’t always match up.

Through September, Billboard will choose the winner based on the song that was played the most throughout the summer.

The top 10 songs on the Billboard charts for June 22. In order: I Had Some Help by Post Malone ft. Morgan Wallen; Million Dollar Baby by Tommy Richman; A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey; Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar; Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter; Too Sweet by Hozier; Lose Control by Teddy Swims; Beautiful Things by Benson Boone; Pink Skies by Zach Bryan; Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish.

What’s hot? Country, hip-hop and ballads

For the week of June 22, Post Malone is at No. 1 for his pop-country duet with Morgan Wallen, I had some help.

The song was released on May 10th and topped the summer charts for the first three weeks.

Wallen’s hit Last night was voted song of the summer last year.

Other songs with a country influence have also been well received so far.

Pink sky by Zach Bryan is number 9 and the country hip hop track A bar song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey is in third place.

In the Hip-Hop category: Tommy Richman’s viral hit Million Dollar Baby is at number 2 and Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track Not like us is in 4th place.

Eminem’s comeback song Houdini is just outside the top 10 at number 11.

Also popular are soulful male singer-songwriters, with Too sweet by Hozier in number 6, Lose control by Teddy Swims at number 7 and Beautiful things by Benson Boone at number 8.

There’s more to come

Songs that appear on the charts earlier in the season have a certain advantage in the race for Song of the Summer, but that doesn’t mean a late debut can’t win the title.

One possible candidate is Sabrina Carpenter’s Please, please, pleaseIt debuted at number 17 on the Songs of the Summer chart.

Billie Eilish sits on the stage.

Her other viral hit, espressois also in the race for number 5 in the summer charts.

Other pop girls are also trying it out.

Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift all released new albums earlier this year. They all have at least one song in the top 20 of the summer charts.

But only time will tell who will be the winner.
