Kathy Griffin is on the mend! One week after the 63-year-old comedian underwent vocal cord surgeryshe took her fans on TikTok with her to her doctor’s visit.

In the video, the doctor examined Griffin’s vocal cords through an endoscope and then asked the comedian to make a sound. Griffin did so before the doctor asked her if she wanted to say anything.

“Hello, how are you?” Griffin replied. “I can’t speak any louder right now, but I’m grateful to have so much voice!”

The doctor asked Griffin to speak louder next, and that’s exactly what she did.

“Hi everyone! I have so much voice now,” said Griffin. “I’m feeling better!”

The doctor noted that Griffin’s voice was “still a little rough” after the surgery, but assured the patient that it would “get better with time.”

The video ended with the doctor telling Griffin, “It’s going to take some time. Remember, it’s going to be up and down.”

In the caption of her post, Griffin wrote, “It’s been a week since my surgery and I’m very happy to say the least. I’m following all the doctor’s orders and keeping quiet (even though I’m a chatty Kathy). Now it’s time to recover for my fall shows.”

Griffin, who is currently a Divorce from Randy Bickwill begin their fall shows on August 23 at District Music Hall in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Earlier this month, Griffin announced that she would undergo surgery to have an implant placed in her left vocal tract, “which was permanently paralyzed during my lung cancer surgery where I had half of my left lung removed.”

“I also have an aperture, which is a tear above my vocal cords, and that’s why my voice sometimes goes higher when I’m doing stand-up,” she added. “So I’m never nervous before surgeries and I’ve had a few. But I’m a little nervous about this one because it’s my voice and I’ve been through this with the vocal issue before.”

After her surgery, Griffin told her fans that it “went well,” adding that the surgery and the required two weeks of silence afterward “will be worth it when I get some of my voice back.”

This is not Griffin’s first surgery on her vocal cords. In June 2023 Griffin underwent vocal cord surgery as part of her recovery from lung cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2021.
