Charli XCX asks fans to stop saying “Taylor Swift is dead” at shows

This request is nothing out of the ordinary. Charli XCX is asking her fans to be polite to Taylor Swift after the “Boom Clap” singer performed a party girl DJ set at a sold-out club Zig in Sao Paolo, Brazil on Friday (June 21).

After seeing show attendees chanting “Taylor is dead” online, the Grammy nominee told her fans that such behavior was unacceptable. “Can people who do this please stop. Online or at my shows,” she wrote in an Instagram story on Sunday (June 23) above a message informing her of the “toxic behavior” of some people at her events. “It’s the opposite of what I want and it bothers me that anyone thinks there’s room for it in this community.”

She concluded: “I will not tolerate it.”

The chants come after Swift released UK-only versions of her latest album. The “Tortured Poets” sectionwith exclusive tracks on June 13, just days after Charli’s last set, bratarrived on June 7. Fans speculated online that the pop superstar wanted to prevent brat from number 1. Taylor Nation tweeted that the new, limited UK version of TTPD was the celebration of the 14-time Grammy winner’s arrival in the UK during her Eras Tour with a series of shows.

Charli is also engaged to George Daniel, drummer for The 1975, who announced their engagement in late November. The tour will end in North America with a September 14 performance at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena before playing a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York City later that month, Nashville in October and more shows before finishing the leg at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena on October 23. She will finish her tour with four shows currently scheduled for late November to early December in the UK.
