Rotary Club Potsdam appoints new president

POTSDAM — Sunday Smith of Potsdam was installed as president for 2024-25 at the Rotary Club of Potsdam’s annual dinner on June 12.

Also honored during the ceremony were new and incumbent officers: President-elect Christina DeLorenzo of Potsdam, past president Duane Pelkey, secretary Laurean Pelkey ​​of Madrid and treasurer Shawn Seymour of Hannawa Falls. Michael Griffin of Colton will remain on the board.

Smith is a licensed midwife and founder of Midwife Sunday Wellness and Birth Center, which offers comprehensive birth care.

She has worked in mortgages, sales and event management for pharmaceuticals, but has worked in healthcare since 1996. She became a registered nurse in 2012 and a registered nurse and midwife in 2016.

In 2017, Smith, her husband Bradley and their two children moved north of the country, where she has since opened her own private practice providing obstetric and women’s health care to families in five counties.

Smith has presented at the American College of Nurse Midwives Annual Meeting, the Gender, Sex and Sexuality Conference, and the World Congress of Midwives. She is also a fellow of the American College of Nurse Midwives.

She is currently pursuing a doctorate in nursing at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
