Sun City West Republican Club plans round-robin candidate meetings

Sun City West Republican Club plans round-robin candidate meetings

The Sun City West Republican Club meets Saturday, July 6, at the Church on the Green, 19051 RH Johnson Blvd.

Socializing begins at 8:30 a.m., coffee and doughnuts are available, and the meeting begins at 9 a.m. (doors open at 8 a.m.). Members who have paid their dues will be admitted without a donation. Nonmembers will be asked to make a donation of three dollars at the door to help pay for the room rental.

Since 2024 is an election year, Republican Club meetings provide an opportunity to meet the candidates in person before the primary in late July and the general election in November.

This month’s format is “round robin” (or musical chairs) rather than a lecture. Thirty-one candidates from the July 30 SCW Republican primary have been invited and will share their thoughts with six to eight members and guests at their round table. Every five minutes, the timer will sound and each candidate will move on to the next table while members remain in their seats, providing an opportunity for one-on-one conversation.

The 27 candidates who have confirmed their participation include Gina Godehere and Rachel Mitchell, who are running for Maricopa County Attorney, and Shelli Boggs, Nickie Kelley and Steve Watson, who are running for Maricopa County Schools Superintendent.

All Republicans and Independents from the Sun Cities and surrounding areas are welcome.
