What is “Oshi no Ko” about?
Oshi no Ko, a manga series by Aka Akasaka with illustrations by Mengo Yokoyari, first appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine on April 23, 2020. An anime adaptation was announced in 2022, produced by Doga Kobo and premiered on April 12, 2023.
A doctor named Gorou Amamiya is reborn as Aqua Hoshino, the son of his favorite idol Ai, after a tragic accident.
Aqua is reborn with his memories of his past life intact and vows to protect his new mother’s legacy. He is not alone, as his twin sister Ruby also has a mysterious connection to Ai’s past.

Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino
Ai Hoshino, the popular idol and leader of B-Komachi in the live-action adaptation of Oshi no Ko, is brought to life by actress Asuka Saito. This is a fitting choice for the live-action adaptation of Oshi no Ko, as Asuka herself is a former member of the popular idol group Nogizaka46.
In addition to her idol experience, Asuka also brings established acting skills to the role. She is known for portraying characters such as Mana Hayase (You Are the Apple of My Eye), Midori Asakusa (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!), and Reika Tosu (My Home Hero). Her extensive commercial experience adds another layer to her ability to embody the charismatic Ai.
Kaito Sakurai as Aqua Hoshino
Kaito Sakurai takes on the role of Aqua Hoshino. This unique character is the reincarnated soul of a former fan of Ai Hoshino, reincarnated as her child. Although Aqua is a child, she has the memories of her past life and a deep desire – to protect her mother’s legacy.
Kaito is known for his portrayal of Kou Mabuchi, the conflicted protagonist in the live-action film Ao Haru Ride. He also takes on the role of Ryu Sanada in the Netflix live-action film Kimi ni Todoke (From Me to You).
Nagisa Saito as Ruby Hoshino
Nagisa Saito joins the Oshi no Ko live-action cast as Ruby Hoshino, the complete opposite of her brother Aqua. In contrast to Aqua’s strategic and calculated approach, Ruby is driven by pure passion and an unbridled desire for the idol life. Despite her natural talent, Ruby struggles with the immense pressure of following in the footsteps of her late mother, the legendary Ai Hoshino.
Nagisa’s background as a former member of the idol group =LOVE certainly adds an extra layer of authenticity to her portrayal of Ruby. Beyond her idol experience, Nagisa Saito has established herself as a talented actress. She has appeared in various dramas such as Saiko no Kyoshi: Ichinengo, Watashi wa Seito ni Sareta (The Best Teacher: I Became a Student in My First Year), Our Secret Diary, and Tomorrow, I’ll Be Someone’s Girlfriend.
Mizuki Kayashima as Akane Kurokawa
Mizuki Kayashima joins the cast as Akane Kurokawa, a talented young actress who is quickly making a name for herself in the industry. Akane is known for her unwavering dedication, sharp wit, and captivating stage presence. Nanoka Hara as Kana Arima

Ano as Mem-cho
The live-action cast of Oshi no Ko made a unique choice: singer-songwriter Ano portrays Mem-cho. The third member of the revived idol group B-Komachi, Mem-cho is a sympathetic character who missed her chance at idol stardom due to the twists and turns of life.
Ano is a talented singer known for her powerful vocals. She is the voice behind popular anime theme songs such as Chu, Tayousei from Chainsaw Man and ZeZeZeZettai Seiiki from Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction. Interestingly, Ano also voices the main character Ouran Nakagawa in Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction.
