IDLES have released their version of “Stick Song!”, a children’s TV hit from the CBeebies show Hey Duggee.

Just days before their headlining gig at Glastonbury, the Bristol band have reworked the song in time for the new episode of the show, titled “The Carrot Badge.”

A celebration of music festivals and the summer solstice, the episode features cartoon rabbits preparing for the Carrot Solstice and will air on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer on June 28 – just days after IDLES will appear on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm.

The original version of “Stick Song!” is a certified children’s television classic and currently has 17 million views on YouTube. The entire Hey Duggee The series has been viewed over 3 billion times and remains one of the most popular children’s television series. The new guitar version is most likely to win over both children and parents – you can watch the video below.

Although it seems an unlikely collaboration, this is the second time IDLES have been on CBeebies, after lead singer Joe Talbot performed Under the Love Umbrella as CBeebies Bedtime Story, which artists such as Dave Grohl, Dolly Parton and Harry Styles have previously done.

At the time, the singer said: “I am honoured to announce that I am reading a CBeebies bedtime story. I can NOT put into words how much I love reading to my child so this has been a welcome change in an already beautiful career. Love.”

Following the release of their latest album “TANGK”, IDLES’ summer schedule includes various international dates and will be rounded off with a UK headline tour. Tickets for the UK are available here and for the US here.
