AI-generated theme song for Dexter’s bicentennial

As the town of Dexter prepares for its bicentennial celebration next week, one local resident has taken an unconventional approach to contribute to the festivities. Rob Marshke, a videographer interested in new technologies, has composed an AI-generated theme song for the event.

“With my video background, I’m always following new technologies like this,” Marshke explained. “So I wrote the lyrics and after about two hours and 20 to 30 renders of tweaking the song, I finally came up with something fun.”

Marshke’s creative process involved writing lyrics and then using AI music technology to generate the song’s instrumental and vocal components. Despite AI’s limitations in replicating human artistry, he believes the result is fit for the occasion.

“Of course, it’s just AI, so the music and vocals aren’t perfect, but they’re really good enough for people to listen to,” Marshke explained. “AI technology is getting better every day. In about a year, it’s going to be insanely good.”

The title song has already been well received by some event organizers who plan to play it during the bicentennial celebrations.

Marshke, a self-professed Dexter fan, expressed his excitement about the technological advances that have made such a project possible. He laughs, “When I was in high school and college, I always wanted to write lyrics and start a band to try to create the song, but that never happened. Now I can live out that dream in a way.”
