JUG

breed

Cole Ragan, Kansas City Royals Comparisons Miami Marlins ($10,100) — This is a terrible situation for Miami. Any situation is terrible because of their weak offense, but this one is bad – .102 ISO, .264 wOBA and 68 wRC+ against LHP. Teams with weak offense generally struggle with any pitch, but hitting fastballs is usually their fatal flaw. Miami ranks 29th against the fastball. Cole Ragan’s is a flamethrower, striking out 29% of batters (3.30 SIERA). His second pitch is the changeup. Miami ranks 26th against change.

Value

James Paxton, Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago White Sox ($7,700) — There are several interesting value options on Monday’s list. Luis Medina ($5,500) has good stuff, but often lacks control. Carson Spires ($6,400) is in a rematch against the weak-hitting Pirates, but in Cincinnati. The world-famous knuckleballer Matt Waldron ($8,300) is affordable. The safest option is Paxton. He struck out eight and allowed one earned run (31.95 DKFP) in his last start at Coors Field. His advanced stats aren’t great, but he’s 7-1 with a 3.65 ERA and has a great matchup.

INFIELD

breed

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers at Milwaukee Brewers ($5,200) – Aim Freddy Peralta ($9,500) seems like a bad idea. Most won’t dare, but it’s worth being bold. Peralta’s put-away pitch is his changeup. Seager is one of the best changeup hitters in baseball. The left-hander has a .231 ISO, a .370 wOBA and a 140 wRC+ against RHP and will benefit from hitting in Milwaukee’s hitter’s park.

Spencer Steer, Cincinnati Reds vs Pittsburgh Pirates ($4,500) — Cincy is a bargain. The Reds are expected to score 4.9 runs on Monday night in hitters’ paradise Cincinnati. The park is small and the opposing pitcher is weak. SP Bailey Butterfly ($6,800) is a flyball pitcher who doesn’t miss bats (6.1 K/9). Steer has a .230 ISO, .373 wOBA and 137 wRC+ against LHP.

Value

Vinnie Pasquantino, Kansas City Royals vs. Miami Marlins ($4,300) SP Roddery Munoz ($6,600) is an intriguing pitcher. He can break out (24% K rate) or break out (2.8 HR/9). He has imploded in three of his last four starts. Pasquantino isn’t a world-class player, but the left-hander is serviceable (.184 ISO, .320 wOBA and 104 wRC+ against RHP) and has a great matchup.

Jeimer Candelario, Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates ($4,300) — The switch hitter has done the most damage against right-handed pitchers (.307 ISO and .364 wOBA). That’s fine. The left-hander on the mound won’t last long in Cincinnati. The Candy Man was great in June – .368 ISO, .445 wOBA and 186 wRC+.

OUTFIELD

breed

Fernando Tatis Jr., San Diego Padres Comparisons Washington Nationals ($5,600) — It is uncertain whether Tatis will start on Monday. He was available as a pinch-hitter on Sunday. A matchup against Patrick Corbin ($5,800) seems like a great time to get back into the lineup. Over his career, Tatis has a wOBA of .389 and a wRC+ of 151 against LHP. He was ice cold in the split this season. There should be some positive regression and this matchup could be the start.

Marcell Ozuna, Atlanta Braves at St. Louis Cardinals ($6,000) — The Braves’ lineup is picking up speed. SP Lance Lynn ($7,900) is blown up. In his last three starts, he has allowed 12 runs and 20 hits in 13.2 innings. In 222 at-bats against RHP, Ozuna has a .333 ISO, .420 wOBA and 173 wRC+.

Value

Jurickson Profar, San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals ($4,000) — Enter your dates. DK Network contributor Steve Buchannon will be tweeting about Patrick Corbin today. Corbin allows a .384 wOBA and 4.64 xFIP to right-handed hitters. Profar has a .214 ISO, .440 wOBA and 193 wRC+ against LHP.

MJ Melendez, Kansas City Royals vs. Miami Marlins ($4,300) Which Roddy Munoz shows up on Monday night? It doesn’t matter. Good old Munoz has trouble against left-handed hitters — .474 ISO, .477 wOBA and 5.14 HR/9 in 14 innings. Melendez has a .220 ISO against right-handed pitchers.
