Christian Pulisic scores the US national team’s first goal at the Copa América with a dream shot against Bolivia

The US national team wanted to make a quick statement at the start of their Copa America match against Bolivia, and Christian Pulisic scored this goal with his foot.

The United States men’s national team got off to a good start in the group stage when Pulisic found the back of the net just over two minutes into Sunday night’s opening game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The USA were ready for a corner kick at 2:17 of play and Pulisic played a short pass to Timothy Weah to run a two-man play in Bolivia’s 16-yard box instead of shooting a ball toward goal.

Weah dropped a pass to Pulisic and instead of crossing, the AC Milan midfielder shot at goal with a right-to-left turn of the ball.

The shot was the perfect height to beat the Bolivian goalkeeper, who got a fingertip on the ball but was unable to deflect the shot far enough to save it.

The ball hit the crossbar and landed in the side of the net, quickly giving the USA a 1-0 lead.

Pulisic turned around and found his teammates on the U.S. bench as AT&T Stadium was abuzz.

For Pulisic, it was the 30th international goal of his career and he provided his 16th assist for Folarin Balogun’s goal to make it 2-0 late in the first half.

The USA want to maintain its dominance in Group C, which also includes Panama and Uruguay.

Pulisic is one of the players head coach Gregg Berhalter relies on to win games early with his veteran presence and knack for attacking momentum, and the Pennsylvania native is already making a lasting impression in this tournament.
