Dave Grohl explains why he will never sing a Nirvana song

Kurt Cobain considered his bandmate to be a talented singer and was even a little jealous of him.

The lead singer of the Foo Fighters and former drummer of Nirvana has spoken about the grunge band and explained why he will not sing their songs.

Dave Grohl is one of the few who was lucky enough to be part of two of the biggest bands in the world.

Not only does he lead the influential Foo Fighters, but he was also the drummer for Nirvana until the early death of their frontman Kurt Cobain in 1994.

Although Grohl has occasionally returned to the drums to play some of the legendary grunge band’s biggest hits, the question remains, would he ever pick up the microphone to sing a Nirvana song?

In a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine, he explained, “I wouldn’t feel comfortable singing a song that Kurt sang. I’m perfectly comfortable playing those songs on drums. And I love playing them with Krist and Pat and another singer.”

He continued: “I still dream that we are in Nirvana, that we are still a band. I still dream that there is an empty arena waiting for us to perform.

Was Kurt Cobain jealous of Dave Grohl?

Cobain reportedly considered his bandmate a talented singer and was even a little jealous of him.

In 2019, the band’s former manager, Danny Goldberg, published his book “Serving The Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain,” in which he shares his memories of the late grunge legend.

In an interview with the Washington Post, he recalled Kurt telling him, “Kurt just said to me, ‘I don’t think you realize what a good singer Dave is, but I hear him singing harmonies every night.'”

Goldberg further commented, “It was like he really did it, so I knew that because he had a very brotherly side and a sweet side, but also a hint of jealousy. I mean, he was ambitious.”
