Amir Khan’s son Junaid on the enthusiasm for his “Maharaj” debut: “I still have a long way to go, there is still a lot to improve”

Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan expressed his joy over the positive response to his debut film ‘Maharaj’ and described it as a long and wild journey that ended well.

“I can’t put into words how I feel right now. Maharaj has been a long and wild journey for me, but all’s well that ends well, I guess,” Junaid said, according to a news agency. ANI-

“Maharaj was made with a lot of love, respect and passion and I am happy that the film and my performance have resonated with the general audience,” he added.

Earlier, the Gujarat High Court had allowed the release of “Maharaj” on Netflix on June 21. The court lifted the interim stay on the release of “Maharaj” and observed that the film was not derogatory and did not target the Pushtimarg sect as alleged.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision, YRF also released a statement on its official Instagram account expressing its gratitude.

“We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of Maharaj, a film that celebrates one of our country’s most important social reformers, Karsandas Mulji.”

It goes on to say, “Karsandas, a hero and devout Vaishnav, stood for justice, protected women and preserved his community and faith. Maharaj is a tribute to his indomitable fighting spirit and courage to stand on the right side of history.”

YRF’s statement added: “Yash Raj Films has been committed to India, its stories, its people, its culture and its heritage for 50 years. We have never produced a film that has tarnished the reputation of our country or our countrymen.”

About Maharaj

The film is based on an 1862 libel case involving Vaishnavite religious leader and social reformer Karsandas Mulji. The 1862 libel case arose out of an article Mulji had written in a Gujarati weekly newspaper in which he alleged that a Vaishnavite leader had had relations with his female followers. Mulji was a journalist and social reformer and a pioneer of women’s rights and social reforms.
