Famous Barrel Horse is honored despite still being at the peak of his career

In the industry, we often wait for something to become a monument to honor people and horses. Alan Woodbury didn’t wait to honor his great mare, Rosas Cantina CC.

Woodbury has an eye for horses and a wealth of knowledge to match his instincts. He has spent his life breeding and raising top-notch performance horses. In 2003, he began purchasing embryos from the first Barrel Racing Futurity Triple Crown winner, SX Frenchmans Vanila.

Woody used his incredible horse instincts to cross Dash ta Fame with Vanila and the result was Dash ta Vanila – a qualifier for the Wrangler National Finals.

Dash ta Vanila continued his genetics and produced Rosas Cantina CC. Fans know “Rosa” from her time when she was ridden by 17-time WNFR qualifier Lisa Lockhart.

This magnificent buckskin mare has won nearly $600,000 and Mr. Woody knows how special she is.

Woody commissioned John R. Rule, husband of Dona Kay Rule, to create a nearly life-sized bronze statue of this incredibly talented mare.

According to a social media post from Woodbury Performance Horses, the statue arrived from Oklahoma to Dickinson, North Dakota on Thursday, June 20.

Just inside the gates of the home of the Woodbury Performance Horses you will find the “magnificent” statue honoring the outstanding athlete “Rosa”.

With a beautiful face that is recognizable to anyone who has ever been around this powerful mare, and the ever-recognizable Woodbury brand, the statue is sure to be the pride of the Woodbury family – right behind the living, breathing wonder horse Rosa herself.

At a time when many people take winning for granted, Mr. Woodbury showed us the importance of acknowledging the here and now and celebrating the lives and success of our athletes.

Rosa is not only a winner in the arena. She has sired offspring that are incredible athletes. Rosa is the dam of Lucky Wonder Horse owned by Myers Performance Horses, Monsterr and Jaguarr – to name a few.

Thank you, Mr. Woodbury, first of all for your knowledge and the legacy you have created for all of us to see and admire, but also for sharing Rosa with the world.
