Fridayy is looking for “the baddest in the room” on his new single: Stream

Fridayy continues to keep the vibes going in 2024 with his latest single “Baddest In The Room,” a track that captures his lust when he discovers it in the middle of the party. Furthermore, he follows previous singles like the Chainsmokers collaboration “Friday” and a more direct portrayal of balladry and melancholy with March track “Without You.” Compared to those tracks, this track is more inspired by dancehall and afrobeat rhythms and tones, but the vocals and harmonies are firmly in the R&B tradition.

Furthermore, the main instrumental attraction of “Baddest In The Room” is a rustic acoustic guitar lick contrasted with airy synths and deep synthetic bass. Fridayy can work with both timbres quite well in terms of matching his vocals, but there isn’t as notable a switch or change of tempo compared to all of his other material. He’s definitely come a long way since his debut album last year and has another one to go.

With that in mind, we’re excited to see where the “When It Comes To You” crooner takes us next. If you haven’t heard Fridayy’s “Baddest In The Room,” find it on your favorite streaming service or check out the visualizer on YouTube a little further down. Quotable texts
I’m in the middle of the party, but I’m only thinking about you,
A hundred million shawties, but you make it easy to choose,
How many men would like to wake up right next to you?
Oh, baby, bring it closer, I know just what to do

About the author

Gabriel Bras Nevares is a music and pop culture news writer for HotNewHipHop. He started as a weekend writer in 2022 and has developed a deep knowledge of hip hop news and releases since joining the team full-time. Whether it’s regular reporting or occasional interviews and album reviews, he continues to seek out the most relevant news for his audience and find the best new releases in the genre. What excites him most is finding interesting pop culture stories, as well as a deeper passion for the art form of hip hop and its contemporary productions. In particular, Gabriel enjoys the fringes of rap music: the experimental, boundary-pushing and raw alternatives to the mainstream sound. A proud native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, he also stays up to date on the archipelago’s local scene and its greatest musical exponents in reggaetón, salsa, indie and beyond. Before working at HotNewHipHop, Gabriel produced several short documentaries, artist interviews, venue spotlights, and audio podcasts on various genres and music greats. Hardcore punk and go-go music informed much of his coverage during his time at George Washington University in DC. His favorite hip hop artists working today are Tyler, The Creator, Boldy James, JPEGMAFIA, and Earl Sweatshirt.
