Singer Christina Perri is pregnant again two years after her heartbreaking miscarriage

US singer Christina Perri has announced that she is pregnant again two years after a “heartbreaking” miscarriage.

Perri, best known for hits such as “Jar Of Hearts” and “A Thousand Years,” shared the news on social media on Monday, saying she and her family were “very excited.”

“Rosie sent Carmella a little sister and we are very excited,” the 35-year-old wrote under a video showing her daughter opening a box of photos of her pregnancy ultrasound images.

“We had all kinds of feelings, but above all we tried to choose joy every day.”

The video shows Perri and her husband Paul Costabile smiling and laughing with their little daughter. At the end, she says, “I love you, mommy.”

In January 2020, she announced that she had suffered a miscarriage at 11 weeks and was able to tell her family about the pregnancy within a week.

“We are shocked and completely heartbroken,” she said at the time.

“We only had a week before we could share the news, and that’s why I think it’s important to share this news. I want to continue to help change the story and stigma around miscarriage, secrecy and shame.”

Perri said she was “so sad but not ashamed,” adding, “I am constantly reminded of how amazing and powerful women are in shaping and healing lives.”

She ended her message by saying, “I am so sad but not discouraged. When the time is right we will try again, but today we mourn our little life lost.”

Perri married Costabile in December 2017 and their daughter Carmella Stanley was born the following January.

She first rose to fame in 2010 after her single “Jar Of Hearts” appeared on the reality show “So You Think You Can Dance”.

It became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Perri is also known for the song A Thousand Years, which appears on the soundtrack of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
