Watch: Chris Jordan scores emotional hat-trick in Barbados, USA loses five of six balls

Watch: Chris Jordan scored an emotional hat-trick, England’s first in a men’s T20I, in Barbados as the USA collapsed dramatically.

The tournament co-hosts lost five wickets in six balls to give the defending champions a 116-point lead in their Super Eights clash.

After a decent start from the USA, England managed to push them back, mainly through leg-spinner Adil Rashid, who claimed 2-13. However, with 13 balls to go, the Associates side were 115-5 and perhaps hoping to get to 140. Instead, they failed to score another run as Jordan made his point.

First he caught Harmeet Singh in the field of Sam Curran and then in the 19th over he had Corey Anderson caught at long-on, followed up with a dot ball and then targeted the stumps with devastating effect. He hit the top of Ali Khan’s off stump, then pinned Nosthush Kenjige lbw and then knocked over Saurabh Netravalkar’s middle stump to confirm his hat-trick.

Jordan was born and raised in Barbados and for that reason he was proud of his performance. The quick finish was also valuable for England, who needed to get to the target quickly to boost their net run rate and secure a place in the semi-finals and, if possible, top spot in the group.

There has been a spate of hat-tricks in recent days, with Pat Cummins scoring three in three consecutive appearances.
