The Beckhams have a huge standing in society due to their wealth and fame. However, a BBC journalist recently claimed in his book that Meghan Markle, who rose to fame in the entertainment industry and later became the Duchess of Sussex, once resented this. Reportedly, Victoria and David Beckham have a huge net worth of $514 million, of which Victoria’s net worth is $450 million.

According to Tom Bower’s book The House of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power, “She was bewildered to discover that the Beckhams were far more wealthy than she was. They owned five houses, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and a lot more money. And she was soon to be a duchess.”

Tom Bower also claims in his book that Meghan Markle wants to reach the highest position through wealth and fame. And that the Duchess was disappointed when she learned that Victoria Beckham has a higher net worth and social rank in the hierarchy. The book states: “In Meghan’s celebrity world, rank depended on wealth and fame. As an experienced businesswoman, Meghan was under the illusion that her status in the royal family put her above Victoria in the social pecking order.”

According to UK Mirror, the bond between the royal and the Beckhams began to crumble in 2018, as Bower reported. Victoria and David were invited to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding but did not attend the celebrations. Later, when Prince William and Kate Middleton were invited to Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding and Meghan and Harry were missing from the guest list, it proved the strain on their friendship.

But even then, Victoria apparently tried to rebuild a good relationship with her friend Meghan and, according to Bower, even suggested beauty salons in London to the Duchess of Sussex, but she did not accept. Later, Meghan even accused the Beckhams of passing on information about the royal couple.

Bower even wrote that Meghan Markle took advantage of Victoria Beckham’s wealth and hospitality. The book states that the Duchess stayed at Beckham’s house after a private trip to Los Angeles. He wrote: “Her excuse was to avoid the paparazzi. All her needs were met secretly and free of charge by the Beckhams’ staff. If there was any suggestion that Meghan was taking advantage of her new status, the Beckhams brushed aside her complaints.”
