Shania Twain names male star who will replace Brad Pitt’s lyrics in 2024: “He’s the new Elvis”

Shania Twain has shed some light on the male celebrity she is currently most fond of.

The 58-year-old country music legend mentioned Brad Pitt by name in her 1998 hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

“Oh, oh, so you think you’re special/ Oh, oh, you think you’re something else,” go the lyrics of the cult song. “OK, so you’re Brad Pitt/ I’m not that impressed.”

Ahead of their performance at Glastonbury Festival next week, Twain spoke to The times about her illustrious career, her background – and the inspiration behind the huge hit that has 196 million streams.

When asked which male star would make it into her lyrics if she were writing the song today, Twain chose British musician Harry Styles.

“He’s the new Elvis,” the singer said of the former One Directioner turned solo pop star.

At the 2022 Coachella Music Festival, Twain appeared on stage with Styles and surprisingly sang her 1997 song “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”

The two musicians wore matching outfits made of colorful sequins for the performance, which Twain later described as the “highlight” of their decades-long career.

This is not the first time Twain has updated the lyrics of “That Don’t Impress Me Much” for the present day. Last year, the singer said the Brad Pitt equivalent of 2023 is Increase Star Channing Tatum after recently seeing him in the trailer for Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

The previous year, during an appearance at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, Twain replaced Pitt’s name with that of fellow Canadian Ryan Reynolds, who was sitting in the audience.

Pitt was later asked how he felt when Reynolds stole his lightning bolt in the song. “You can share the wealth,” he replied. “Ryan’s a good guy, too. He deserves some love.”

Twain will perform in the coveted Legends slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, joining headliners Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA as the top act on the Pyramid Stage.

The musician told The times that she plans to invite a surprise guest to her show. Although she doesn’t say who it will be, the interviewer writes that “one might note that when Styles headlined Coachella in 2022, he … brought Twain with him.”

Twain has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the highest-selling artists of all time.

She is currently in the middle of her greatest hits tour and will also headline the British Summer Time Festival in London’s Hyde Park on July 7.
