Marvel star Chris Pratt admits injury after failed stunt

Marvel star Chris Pratt has announced that he sustained an injury during a botched stunt.

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor took X (formerly Twitter) on Friday (April 19) to share photos of the painful ankle injury sustained on the set of his upcoming thriller Mercy.

One snapshot showed swelling on Pratt’s ankle, while the other showed the actor elevating his leg in his dressing room.

The post read: “Mercy, day 4 of filming. I have such an amazing stunt team! AND sometimes I try to join in and do my own stuff.”

“Today Dad got a metal post on his ankle. That should be interesting for the future.”

The science fiction film, directed by Timur Bekmambetov and written by Marco van Belle, is set in the near future and Pratt plays a detective.

According to the film’s synopsis, Pratt’s currently unnamed character “is accused of a violent crime and must prove his innocence in a society where capital crimes are on the rise” (via Deadline).

In addition to Pratt, Mercy will also star Dune’s Rebecca Ferguson. As the film is still in the early stages of production, details about her character have not been revealed – however, it is likely that she will play a key role in the plot.

Pratt will also reprise his role as Lieutenant Commander James Reece in Prime Video’s upcoming prequel, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which is set five years before the original series.

After lending his voice to Super Mario, the actor also returns to the sound booth to play the greedy cat in the Garfield movie.

Jim Davis’ animated film, which is set to hit theaters next month, also features appearances by Samuel L. Jackson (The Marvels), Nicholas Hoult (The Great), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) and Cecily Strong (SNL).

Mercy will be released in US theaters on August 15, 2025.
