Jonathan Knight’s husband had “no idea” he was famous

HGTV star Jonathan Knight is best known as a member of the popular boy band New Kids on the Block. However, when he met his now-husband Harley Rodriguez in 2008, Rodriguez had never heard of him.

According to ET, Knight met Rodriguez when he was teaching classes at Barry’s Bootcamp. Knight attended the classes and eventually struck up a conversation with Rodriguez, who had no idea Knight was famous.

“I heard their music on the radio and stuff, but I was never a fan… I never went to a concert, nothing,” Rodriguez told the outlet. Knight loved that Rodriquez had “no idea” who he was.

“It’s kind of awesome,” he said.

Knight and Rodriguez got engaged in 2016 while on vacation in Africa. They married a few years later.

Knight and Rodriguez have teamed up for a new series called “Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp.” In preparation for the new show, the couple talked about their relationship in a video posted to Instagram on June 18.

Fans enjoyed watching the two interact with each other and share their love story.

“You are such a sweet couple. I’m so glad you decided to go to that bar that night. It was so meant to be,” one person wrote.

“Just when I thought you two couldn’t be cuter,” someone else added.

“I love listening to you two talk about each other. It warms my heart,” read a third comment.

Meanwhile, in his interview with ET, Knight explained a little about the premise behind his new HGTV series.

“Everything we do is geared toward the lake and lake living. And the good thing is that some of these cottages have porches. So we really wanted to beautify them and give people a place to relax. What’s better than taking an afternoon nap on the porch?” he said.

In November 2016, Knight spoke to Jenny McCarthy on her SiriusXM radio show and revealed his marriage proposal to Rodriguez.

“We were in Africa, our parents were there – our mothers were there – and I just thought this would be the right time to propose to her. We’ve always considered ourselves a married couple,” he said.

“We were on the Zambezi, just above Victoria Falls. We had dinner on a raft in the evening, just the four of us out on the river. There was a hippo in the background. There was a super moon. It was just beautiful, so romantic,” he continued.

The two married, but they didn’t share the news when it happened. In 2022, Knight told ET’s Lauren Zima that he and Rodriguez had tied the knot. He gave the interview with a ring on his finger, and when Zima asked if he and Rodriguez had married, Knight replied, “Yes.”

“Everyone just assumed we were married, so I never say yes or no because I don’t want to lie,” he added.
