Was that a long read? I’ll make it easier…
What’s the matter
Google is reportedly working on expanding its Circle to Search feature, a key part of Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite, to include the ability to recognize songs and popular audio clips.
This information was brought to light by a well-known leaker @AssembleDebug during an APK teardown, as reported by Android Authority.
The latest beta version of the Google app contains a string of code that says “Audio search button.”
The button is currently not functional
As discovered, the code string is symbolized by a musical note icon and is located next to the existing text translation button on the screen.
The audio search button is currently not functional and Google has not made an official statement about its purpose.
The upcoming beta version of the Google app is expected to shed more light on the functionality of this new button by enabling it.
It could help to analyze ambient noise
Because of the musical note icon, it is speculated that the new button could allow Circle to Search to analyze ambient noise using the phone’s microphone.
If a song or familiar audio clip is recognized, relevant information may be provided.
The feature could also potentially allow users to hum a song for identification or to help them find information, but these features have not been confirmed by Google.
