Singer Sean Kingston sent to Broward Jail; new video with NBA YoungBoy released

In recent days, reggae singer Sean Kingston released a new video for a song featuring NBA YoungBoy and was booked into Broward County Main Jail on nine counts of fraud and theft, as well as a probation violation.

These two events are related.

On Sunday, Kingston was booked into the Broward County Main Jail under his legal name, Kisean Anderson, after being extradited from California. Online jail records from the Broward Sheriff’s Office say Kingston’s bail is set at $100,000.

Arrest documents say Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, regularly bounced checks and defrauded businesses and banks out of furniture, jewelry and the use of a Cadillac Escalade. Kingston was arrested in Fort Irwin, California, on May 23, while BSO arrested Turner the same day. She was released from jail on Tuesday after posting $160,000 bail.

Kingston, 34, was charged with:

Obtaining property by fraud valued over $50,000; fraudulent use of another person’s identification without consent valued over $50,000 (three counts); fraudulent use of another person’s identification without consent valued over $5,000; grand theft between $20,000 and $100,000; fraudulent use of a check without funds valued over $150; grand theft over $100,000 (two counts); and probation violation.

Kingston’s video “Why Oh Why,” posted Friday on WorldStar Hip Hop’s YouTube page, features news footage from the May 23 raid on Kingston’s Southwest Ranches home by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Davie Police Department SWAT teams.

Kington isn’t the only one in the video whose freedom of movement is restricted by a criminal charge. NBA YoungBoy, aka Kentrell Gaulden, was charged with drug and weapons offenses in Louisiana but is in a Utah prison after being accused of 48 counts of drug fraud, according to the Herald Journal of Logan, Utah.
