One dead and several injured outside nightclub in Kentucky

A shooting outside a nightclub in Louisville, Kentucky, left one person dead and seven others suffering gunshot wounds.

Kentucky: Another mass murder has occurred in the USA. On Saturday (local time), one person was killed and seven others injured outside a nightclub in Louisville, Kentucky, CNN reported, citing police. First responders who arrived at the scene found two injured, according to a statement from the Louisville Metro Police Department. One of the victims, a man, was later pronounced dead.

Police said the second person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel later reported that six more victims, all adults, were taken to area hospitals for treatment after the shooting.

According to Aaron Ellis, police spokesman, all six people were shot. Police said: “The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”

Police did not release any information about the suspect and it is unclear how many people opened fire or what caused the shooting.

Police said “the family relationships of the victims, if any, are unknown at this time,” adding that the shooting remains under investigation.

In another incident, three people were killed and ten others injured in a shooting at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on Friday (local time), authorities said in a press conference, CNN reported.

Arkansas State Police said the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. local time at the Mad Butcher grocery store, CNN reported.

Mike Hagar, Secretary of Public Safety and Director of the Arkansas State Police, said law enforcement officers quickly responded to the scene and engaged the sole suspect, with shots fired. Both officers and the suspect were injured, but neither suspect was believed to be in critical condition.

There has been a rise in shootings in the United States in recent weeks. Last Friday alone, over 21 such incidents were reported, according to the Gun Violence Archive. Their definition of a mass shooting is a single episode in which at least four people (other than the shooter) are struck by bullets. This was widely reported on CNN.
