When asked if she had invited the Pope to star in “Sister Act 3,” Goldberg replied, “I thought this wasn’t the right place to bring that up, but I’ll probably send an email.”

Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock and several other comedians recently brought their individual humor to the Vatican.

The 68-year-old host of “The View” and the 59-year-old actor from “Rustin” joined fellow stars Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Conan O’Brien, Jim Gaffigan and Tig Notaro in a meeting with Pope Francis on Friday. The pope hosted 105 comedians to show the importance of comedy, according to the New York Times.

“You manage to make people smile even when they are dealing with problems and events, big and small,” the Pope said of one of the “miracles” of humor. “You denounce abuses of power, you give voice to forgotten situations, you point out inappropriate behavior.”

“Remember,” he told the comedians, “if you can bring an intelligent smile to the face of even one spectator, you will make God smile too.”

The aim of the meeting is to “establish a link between the Catholic Church and comic book artists,” said the Dicastery for Culture and Education, the organizer of the event, according to the Jesuit magazine America Media.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Goldberg and several other comedians spoke to local press following the visit. The EGOT winner was asked if she had invited the Pope to star in Sister Act 3, to which she replied, “I thought this wasn’t the right place to bring that up, but I’ll probably send an email.”

Normally, the Pope “sits in front of the groups he is meeting with to take a group photo before leaving his audiences,” American Media reported, but this time Rock jumped right behind the Pope as he turned around. His fellow comedians quickly followed suit, creating an epic group photo.

Pope Francis added that people “can also laugh at God, just as we play and joke with those we love.”

“You unite people because laughter is contagious,” he concluded. “I ask you to pray for me: For me, with a smile, not against me,” THR reported.
