Kali Uchis is back with a Moody re-recording of “Never Be Yours”

Kali Uchis has a never-ending supply of creative work, or so it seems. The “Moonlight” singer thought she had satisfied her fans’ appetites in January with the release of her latest album. Orchids.

But as it turns out, she didn’t. Now, Kali Uchis is back from maternity leave to release the song “Never Be Yours.” To some, the moody, Josh Crocker-produced song may seem new. However, Kali Uchis’ fans from the beginning will tell you that it’s actually an oldie, but a good song.

If the lyrics “Hello Kitty, why such a long face? / You stand, stand, stand still in the same spot / New coupons, driving in the Chevrolet with a fat bass / You talk, talk about how we all lack taste / Beamer, Bentley / Make me pretend / New chain, you’ve changed / Here’s your receipt” don’t trigger a flashback, then you’ve seen her appearance in the Kind of nice Podcasts.

In 2014, Kali Uchis performed the record live for the show. The clip has since garnered over 24 million views on YouTube. With a snippet of the song currently gaining popularity on TikTok, she decided to officially release the record on all music platforms, starting with Kali Uchis’ official YouTube page.
