An old Taylor Swift demo CD sold for over $12,000

An old Taylor Swift demo CD sold for over ,000

It’s hard to remember a time when Taylor Swift wasn’t famous. For nearly two decades, the “Fortnight” singer dominated country and pop radio stations. But before she became a household name, she had humble beginnings, as evidenced by a demo CD that recently fetched big money at an online auction.

According to Goldin Auctions, a CD recorded by Swift with two original songs and some cover versions sold for $12,505.

“At age 11, Swift traveled to Nashville with her mother to sell her demo, which included cover songs by Dolly Parton and Dixie Chicks,” the demo CD’s description reads. “All of which leads us to this hidden gem in our auction: an early, self-produced CD that Swift herself signed in black marker.”

A photo of the CD shows that the demo CD contains the original songs “Am I Ready For Love,” written by Celina Berman-Gray, and “Can I Go With You,” co-written with Greg McElrath. The CD also includes cover versions of Olivia Newton-John’s “Hopelessly Devoted To You” from Fat“Here You Come Again” by Dolly Parton and “There’s Your Trouble” by The Chicks, then known as the Dixie Chicks.

The CD also includes a link to Swift’s website and a phone number and email address where interested executives can reach Swift.

It’s safe to say that Swift’s musical pursuits have paid off.
