The cast of new Netflix series ‘The Decameron’ talks about the show and escaping the Black Death – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Hear ye hark, there’s a new Netflix series that’s full of medieval vibes. We’re talking fancy outfits, big parties and even the plague. Deco caught up with the cast of “The Decameron” to find out all the behind-the-scenes details.

The new Netflix series “The Decameron” takes viewers back to the time of quarantine.

Karan Gill (as Panfilo): “Have you gutted fish, Senora? They are covered in fish cartilage.”

Tanya Reynolds (as Licisca): “Is that me?”

But in a funny way! The black comedy follows a group of noblemen and their servants as they flee to a stately home to escape the plague.

Tony Hale (as Sirisco): “I’m Sirisco, the steward, and I can tell you all about our beautiful villa estate.

Tony Hale is the most talented host in this historical drama, a role he says he completely identifies with!

Tony Hale: “I can completely understand the desire to be liked by someone. And that you feel completely out of place and don’t know what’s going on. I definitely know the fear and uncertainty of a pandemic.”

Zosia Mamet also plays Pampinea in the series, a wealthy noblewoman who will stop at nothing to become the ruler of the villa.

Zosia Mamet: “She has no qualms about doing anything literary. Whether that’s lying, cheating or murder. I don’t think she looks at it from a negative perspective. I think she thinks she’s doing what she has to do to survive.”

For Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who plays Zosia’s obedient servant, the role helped her tell a story she knows all too well.

Zosia Mamet (as Pampinea): “You take such good care of me.”

Saoirse-Monica Jackson (as Misia): “Yes, I do”

Saoirse-Monica Jackson: “You know, I’ve had my heart broken a few times in my short life. But the worst heartbreak was definitely a friend’s, and I thought that was a very interesting idea that I wanted to explore further.”

Jessica Plummer (as Filomena): “Whore wine, my lady?

Tanya Reynolds (as Licisca): “What did you just say?

Jessica Plummer (as Filomena): “More wine?

But don’t be fooled. The hatred you see on screen is just well-acted! Just ask Tanya Reynolds and Jessica Plummer.

Tanya Reynolds: “Oh yes, we love each other. So, I love you!”

Jessica Plummer: “I love you!”

The cast was also thrilled with their filming location!

Jessica Plummer: “When people ask me, I’ve decided that I’m a Roman Londoner. That means Rome is in my core, in my soul, in my heart. I feel like we’ve all fallen completely in love with this country.”
