Michigan State Football adds three-star CB to 2025 recruiting class

Jonathan Smith’s first recruiting class without any holdovers from the previous regime continues to take shape.

George Mullins, a three-star cornerback from Bushnell, Florida, is the latest player to announce his verbal commitment to the Spartans’ 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2, soon-to-be South Sumter graduate made his plans known Saturday night with a post on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.

Mullins reportedly had more than 21 offers to play at the next level. Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Oregon State and Florida Atlantic were among the schools interested in Mullins, but Michigan State was ultimately the program that won him over.

Mullins, a multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball and runs track, is considered the nation’s No. 62 cornerback and Florida’s No. 79 most promising player according to 247Sports rankings. Last season, he recorded 27 tackles, 10 pass defenses and two interceptions as a junior on South Sumter’s team that went 11-2 and reached the Florida regional finals of the 2S playoffs, 247Sports reports.

Mullins is the 10th player to verbally commit to Michigan State’s class of 2025 and the fifth to announce his commitment this month, joining Orchard Lake St. Mary’s tight end Jayden Savoury, Red Oak (Texas) receiver Charles Taplin, Murrieta Valley (Calif.) offensive lineman Drew Nichols and Sandusky (Ohio) Perkins receiver Braylon Collier.
