“Swifties for Harris”: Will Taylor Swift support the Democrat and forgo Ivanka Trump’s special appeal?

After US President Joe Biden announced that he would not run for the White House and would instead support Vice President Kamala Harris, pop music fans flooded social media with their support.

Amid growing concerns about Biden’s advanced age, Harris, 59, appears to have electrified voters on social media and engaged politically in a different way than the president.

As soon as Harris announced her presidential candidacy, many on TikTok began sharing remixes of the US vice president’s speeches, incorporating her laughter into songs by Mitski, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Charli XCX and Kim Petras.

On Sunday evening, Charli XCX posted “Kamala IS brat,” a reference to her latest album “Brat.”

Pop diva Kesha published two posts on TikTok featuring Harris’ “coconut” quote, picking up a beat after the word “tree.”

Katy Perry, whose hit “Roar” played a major role in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, shared a montage of videos featuring Harris and a remix that included snippets of Harris’ laughter and the phrase “coconut” in her new song “Woman’s World.” Perry sings, “It’s a woman’s world and you’re lucky to live in it.”

Will Taylor Swift support Kamala Harris?

Fans are now wondering if Taylor Swift will endorse Kamala Harris. If the American singer does, it could indicate that the world’s most famous artist is willing to use her considerable cultural influence to support Harris in her historic aspirations to become the first black woman and the first Asian-American woman to become President of the United States.

Due to her ability to reach millions of followers on social media, Swift was named the fifth most influential woman in the world by Forbes.

Kase Wickman, a writer for Vanity Fair, pointed out that Swift’s support for Harris would be “an unparalleled win for the former California senator’s 2024 presidential campaign.” On Sunday, the “Swifties for Harris” account was launched on X. The account, which has nothing to do with Swift, has over 19,000 followers.

Swift has used her voice to influence politics before, most notably by spearheading voter registration initiatives for local, state and federal elections. In 2020, the American singer-songwriter “proudly” endorsed Biden and Harris, claiming the duo’s entry into the White House would help heal the nation after Trump stoked racism and white supremacist sentiment during his presidency.

Despite reports that the Biden campaign contacted Swift earlier this year, the singer has not expressed her stance on the November election. However, Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump have done their best to pull Swift into their camp.

Will Swift abandon Ivanka to support Harris?

Ivanka Trump recently showed her familial gratitude for the “Bad Blood” singer on her daughter Arabella’s 13th birthday. Last week, Arabella’s party featured a Swift-inspired heart-shaped cake, as seen in Instagram photos shared by Ivanka.

In one image, the phrase “Boys only want love if it’s torture” (sic) is written in white over the cake’s white frosting, an excerpt from Swift’s popular song “Blank Space,” Wickman said. The image also includes red candles lighting the number “13” ablaze, a nod to both Swift’s favorite number and Arabella’s age.

Another photo shows the cake cut into slices. According to Vanity Fair, the cake with the bright blood-red frosting resembles the cake Swift stabs in her “Blank Space” music video. “Best cake for my favorite Swiftie,” Ivanka wrote in the caption.

In response to her post, one person asked, “Why is the Trump family promoting Taylor Swift when she has been so vocal against Donald Trump? She literally despises him!”

Others remarked, “It’s just a cake.” They also noted that it may not have any deeper meaning and that several 13-year-old girls are Swifties.

Wickman claimed that despite Ivanka’s declaration that she would retire from politics this election, she was actually “the super-rich princess” of her father’s “MAGA empire.”

Previously, Donald Trump expressed his admiration for Swift in his new book “Apprentice in Wonderland,” calling her “very talented” and “actually very beautiful.” However, Trump lamented the singer’s “liberal” views.

Shortly before kickoff of Super Bowl LVIII in February, Trump declared on his Truth Social platform that Swift would “absolutely not” support a Biden-Harris ticket. It seemed like a warning from Trump when he said Swift did not want to be “disloyal.”
