If you are like me, you can not consume enough of it Bridgerton Contents. With the publication of the (critically mixed) third season There’s more than enough footage on Netflix of Nicola Coughlan and her co-star Luke Newton being so cute together during the press tour. In true Whistledown fashion, one of Coughlan’s answers in an interview went viral. And based on that, she’s now officially releasing the song “Shoes…More Shoes” for all of “high society” to hear, and big-name stars like Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Van Ness are promoting her.
After her song “Shoes…More Shoes” went viral, the question arises, what is the reason why Nicola Coughlan released her song?
In an interview with Hits Radio UK, the Couple, affectionately called “Polin”were asked what her dream job outside of acting would be. Nicola Coughlin hilariously responded by saying she would love to make a pop song exclusively for gay men, like she did with Real Housewiveswhere they just list things like “shoes, private yachts, caviar, more shoes.” This clip was posted by the broadcaster’s TikTok account and has nearly 100,000 likes. The snippet was remixed by a content music producer, @ellismiah, on the app and that ALSO went viral. Now, the actress has taken matters into her own hands and announced the official release of “Shoes…More Shoes” to raise money for The Trevor Project and Not A Phase. Both organizations provide support for the LGBTQ+ community.
A teaser is available on the Derry Girl Alum’s Instagram, with the caption that the full track will be out soon and is available for pre-save. Perhaps this song and campaign will inspire its use in a Bridgerton Queer plot of the fourth season. You can make any song instrumental, right? Check out the actress’ post below:
But seriously, this is such an iconic move and an amazing example of a celebrity using their platform for good, not because they have to, but because they want to. Nicola Coughlan saw that she was going viral and took full advantage of it to help others. This development helps put a sweet stamp on a happy Pride Month. Moreover, the Barbie Alum looks stunning because the cover photo of the song is EVERYTHING. But honestly, Coughlan looks like a princess So it should come as no surprise that she’s stepping on our necks again.
And maybe there’s more. After the remix clip went viral, Hits Radio UK brought the stars of the third season back and asked if there was more music in the archive. The Irish native hinted that more songs could be on the way and poked fun at the lack of seriousness of her song. She even jokingly called herself the “John Lennon of West Ireland”:

I don’t know about you, but I think she should definitely consider making more songs. Her current song is great and I’m not the only one who likes it.
With the announcement of “Shoes…More Shoes,” fans flooded Nicola Coughlan’s Instagram comments, but they weren’t alone. Fan-favorite queer celebrities also came out to show their support, and their reactions weren’t disappointing. Jonathan Van Ness (@jvn on Instagram) by Queer Eye said what many people were probably thinking:
Okay, we have our playlist for tonight ready.
EvilCynthia Erivo (@cynthiaerivo) from Elphaba herself also had something to say. The actress, who Bridgerton Star Jonathan Bailey in the movie musical, added:
I’m dead, can the bi girls please have a piece of this??
But my personal favorite is from Betty Who (@bettywho) and I hope her sentiment comes true:
NICOLA, CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE REMIX?
Obviously, there are many people who are completely in favor of the Seize them! singing of the star. Here are some more of the best and most notable comments praising this new hit on Instagram:
- “SYMBOL” – @joelocke03
- “Lady Whistledown’s journey to pop stardom is legendary✨” – @bravotv
- “👀ohh, we like that.” – @hanes
- “Oh, we are SO awake.” @the most
I love the Jonathan Bailey Bridgerton/Heartstopper Universe (with a shot Evil added), compiled via Nicola Coughlan’s comments section. I think many would agree with Jonathan Van Ness that this absolutely needs to hit summer playlists immediately, and I need more songs from the super niche “Nicola Coughlan pop for gay men” genre ASAP.
For now, however, you can get a Netflix subscription and stream all three seasons of Bridgerton now. Also check out the 2024 TV schedule to see more titles coming to the small screen.
