Xperi publishes list of most listened to songs in vehicles for Q2 2024 – RadioInsight

Xperi DTS Auto Stage AutoStageDTS, Inc., a global leader in next-generation audio and a wholly owned subsidiary of Xperi Inc. (NYSE: XPER), today released its list of most listened to songs in the vehicle for the second quarter of 2024* in the U.S., U.K. and worldwide, based on data collected from the DTS AutoStage Broadcaster Portal.

Q1 chart-toppers including Jack Harlow, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift were replaced in Q2 by Teddy Swims and Benson Boone, as well as Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter put in an impressive showing on the US, UK and global charts (No. 1, No. 6 and No. 6 respectively), coinciding with the release of her new single “Espresso” and her performance at the 2024 Coachella festival. Doja Cat proved her staying power as the only Q1 top-5 artist to hold on in Q2, while Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” reached No. 3 globally and Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” reached No. 3 in the US.

“Our quarterly list of most-listened-to songs in the car, compiled from active listening data from millions of vehicles around the world equipped with DTS AutoStage, once again shows not only what’s being played, but what consumers are actually listening to in their vehicles. This means we can see how a song is actually resonating with audiences and whether engagement is increasing, decreasing or stagnating,” said Joe D’Angelo, senior vice president of broadcast at Xperi. “This quarter, it was particularly fascinating to see how artists who initially gained popularity through less conventional music channels – TikTok in the case of Benson Boone, YouTube for Teddy Swims, Disney for Sabrina Carter – made an impact with in-car listeners around the world, who also remain loyal to megastars Doja Cat, Beyoncé and Ariana Grande.”

Swims was the most-listened-to song in vehicles in the US in the second quarter, and the second-most-listened-to song in the UK and worldwide.

“Beautiful Things” by TikTok artist Benson Boone peaked at No. 2 in the U.S. and No. 1 worldwide, while “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” by Ariana Grande peaked at No. 3 in the U.S. and No. 4 worldwide.

Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills” was the only song to remain in the US top 5 for Q2 as of Q1 2024, while Dua Lipa’s “Houdini” and Tate McRae’s “Greedy” fell from their Q1 positions in the global top 5 but held steady in the top 10 for Q2.
