Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 11 was recently released and fans were treated to a highly anticipated battle between several characters. For one thing, the battle between Himawari and Jura was properly concluded in this chapter of the series. This is something that fans have been looking forward to since the last chapter came out and the author handled it really well.

Boruto: Himawari’s superior Jinchuriki powers explained

Himawari’s potential may far exceed that of her father Naruto. She is the ultimate Jinchuriki in Boruto.

Fans got a good glimpse of what Himawari could do in battle, and clearly she was able to hold her own for quite a long time. However, another part of the chapter focused on Sarada Uchiha, where she was supposed to fight Hidari, another of the powerful Shinju. In this chapter, Sarada showed off her mental intelligence, but ultimately didn’t get the chance to show her true abilities like fans had hoped. Once again, it feels like she was let down by the writers.

The treatment of Sarada Uchiha in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Sarada received very little attention in Boruto Part 1

Sarada Uchiha was a rather average character in the Boruto series. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the potential to be a good character or that she’s weak. But from a writer’s perspective, Sarada is lacking in many ways. That’s largely due to the writers simply neglecting her in the first part of Boruto. Sarada is part of the main trio of the series, along with Boruto Uzumaki and Mitsuki. If you also add Kawaki, fans can say that these four next generation characters form the core of Boruto, or at least formed the core of part 1 of Boruto. However, most of the focus was on Boruto and Kawaki. Sarada only had moments here and there, such as when she fought Boro. Overall, though, she was pretty underwhelming, which was very disappointing for fans, especially since she’s one of the main characters, has tremendous potential, and has a lofty dream that Naruto Uzumaki once had as well. Her character certainly deserved better and fans were hoping that this would change in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.

I plan to become Hokage by choosing a different path than my father!

Sarada Uchiha was sidelined for most of the first part of the series. At the same time, her development as a ninja was also stunted. Sarada could never keep up with the likes of Boruto and Kawaki, and even in the final battle of the series, she had to be saved from Kawaki. This was clearly a sign from the author that Sarada would be a damsel in distress for most of the series, despite having the skills to be a character who stands on her own two feet and whose entire character does not revolve around the protagonist Boruto Uzumaki.

Fans had high expectations for Two Blue Vortex. This was mainly because many supporting characters received a lot of attention in the early chapters of the series. Lately, even Himawari has been getting a lot of attention, which was only better for Sarada since she is more important in the grand scheme of things.

Sarada Uchiha in two blue swirls

In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sarada once again failed to make an impression

In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, fans saw a new design for Sarada Uchiha, which was to be expected, and it can be said that this design was exactly what fans expected. It was decent, and fans hoped that the author had improved more about Sarada than just the design. Readers were simply waiting for an opportunity for her to show what she was truly capable of. In the case of Boruto Uzumaki, for example, he has had many opportunities to fight and show what he has learned in the three-year time skip so far. On the other hand, Kawaki, despite not being as strong as Boruto, also got his opportunities, and fans saw that his control over Isshiki’s powers was now fully matured. Even Himawari got an opportunity to show what she was all about, as did Mitsuki in his brief fight with Boruto.

This leaves Sarada, who fans had hoped would get her chance to shine Boruto: Two blue swirls.

There’s something going on! Something that only you and Sarada can handle. That’s what my gut tells me. And that’s why I made you a mentor. – Sasuke Uchiha

As sad as it may be, the truth is that Sarada was once again disappointed in Boruto. In the fight against Hidari, she had to be saved once again. The beginning of the fight was certainly exciting. Sarada was able to dodge one of his punches and deliver a powerful Chidori to his stomach. However, this was something she was able to perfume quite well even in the time before Boruto’s time skip. This is nothing new, and yet this is all she had to offer in this fight. Using the scratch marks, Hidari was able to deliver a powerful blow to her that drove her to the face of death. Himawari could surpass her father Naruto. Her control over Kurama is on a whole other level.

Once again, Sarada would have been dead if Boruto hadn’t come along. Hidari wanted to devour her whole and gain new powers or knowledge. Boruto came just in time and saved Sarada. Once again, the main character of the series is there to save the day, and the supporting cast remains underdeveloped. This isn’t the first time Boruto has saved Sarada and robbed her of an opportunity to shine herself. Sarada has been disappointed time and time again, and unfortunately, this cycle doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.

What does the future hold for Sarada?

Sarada may have some shining moments, but fans should lower their expectations of the writers

The future for Sarada Uchiha can still be bright. This is simply because fans know that she will become Hokage in the future and that means her strength will definitely increase. Moreover, it is a given that she will have to prove her power at some point down the line. When that will be, however, fans do not know. Right now, Sarada is incredibly disappointing after returning from the time skip and it feels like she hasn’t learned anything new in those 3 years while others, like Boruto Uzumaki, Himawari, Kawaki and even Mitsuki, have taken their skills to a whole new level.

Unfortunately, Sarada is the only one left behind, and this isn’t the first time female characters in this series have been treated this way. Sure, you can argue that Himawari has received a huge push recently, but this character has only just started to get some attention, and fans don’t know how this character arc will end.

And even if it did go well, that would only be one real female character in about 100 chapters of Boruto. Hopefully the writer can turn this around and give Sarada the moments she deserves in the future, because things are looking bleak for her right now.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read officially and for free by fans on Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 12, is set for July 20, 2024.
