BYD’s (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Song family – the new power vehicle (NEV) maker’s best-selling vehicle – is about to launch two new models.

BYD will launch the 2025 Song Plus DM-i and Song L DM-i on July 25, and both SUV (sport utility vehicle) models will be equipped with the latest DM 5.0 hybrid system, the company announced on Weibo today.

BYD said the launch event for both models will begin on July 25 at 7:30 p.m. Beijing time.

The BYD brand model range includes the Dynasty and Ocean series, with the Song model family covering both product ranges.

Song family models currently available in the Dynasty range include the all-electric Song L and hybrid Song Pro DM-i, while the Song in the Ocean range includes the Song Plus DM-i and Song Plus EV.

BYD unveiled its fifth-generation DM technology on May 28, which delivers lower fuel consumption than its predecessor.

The company then launched the Seal 06 DM-i and Qin L DM-i hybrid sedans, the first two models to feature fifth-generation DM technology, both with a total range of over 2,000 kilometers.

The Song L DM-i and the updated Song Plus DM-i will be the first two BYD SUVs with DM 5.0 technology and will be part of the Dynasty and Ocean series respectively.

BYD had already unveiled pictures and a video of the Song L DM-i, the hybrid version of the Song L, two weeks ago. The all-electric Song L is scheduled to go on sale on December 15, 2023.
