NATE supports AM radio law

“Efforts to remove AM radios from vehicles endanger the safety of our workforce”

A key voice in the tower industry supports the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act.

NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association issued a statement in support of HR 3413. It called on the House of Representatives to pass the bill, which would require automobile manufacturers to offer AM radio reception in new cars at no additional cost.

“At a time when communication is critical, efforts to remove AM radios from vehicles jeopardize the safety of our workforce,” the organization said, citing President/CEO Todd Schlekeway.

“NATE members deploy across the country in many hard-to-reach areas where AM radio is essential for communicating during weather conditions or other emergencies. The value of AM radio in emergencies cannot be overstated, and it has clearly saved lives and kept our teams informed.”
