Butcher Babies announce departure of singer Carla Harvey

Butcher Babies have announced the departure of co-lead singer Carla Harvey – read her statement below.

On Sunday (July 21), the band confirmed Harvey’s departure after fans noticed that the singer had not appeared in Butcher Babies’ social media posts for around six months.

Butcher Babies wrote on Instagram: “Carla was an integral part of our journey, bringing her unique talent, passion and energy to the band. We are grateful for the incredible memories we created together and the impact she had on our music and our fans. We will miss her greatly and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

They also said they are “excited about this new era” of the band.

Harvey also made her own statement about her departure from the band: “Over the last 6 months you may have noticed that I have been silent on the (Butcher Babies) posts. After 15 years of dedication I wanted to let you know that I will not be joining the band for any future endeavors. I am super proud of my work with the Butcher Babies… 2 EPs, 5 full-length albums and countless tours with our metal heroes!”

She continued, “To all of our incredible BB friends and fans… you have given me some of the greatest experiences of my life! I have enjoyed every second of writing for you and performing all over the world! I have loved getting to know you. WOW. I still can’t believe this boy from Detroit got so lucky.”

Carla Harvey ended her statement with a strong promise to fans: “I’m not done making music and performing yet. I’ll see you soon.”

Butcher Babies were co-founded in 2010 by Carla Harvey and her co-singer Heidi Shepherd. They most recently released two albums, “Eye For An Eye…” and “…Till The World’s Blind”, on the same day in 2023.

Earlier this year, Harvey and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante got engaged during a U2 show in Las Vegas. Among those who came to congratulate him were Heidi Shepherd of the Butcher Babies and Benante’s bandmate in Pantera, Rex Brown, as well as Gary Holt (Exodus, Slayer) and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein of Misfits (via Consequence).
