Country singer Rory Feek remarries 8 years after the death of his wife Joey

Rory Feek told the world what it was like to remarry eight years after the death of his wife Joey Feek. PEOPLEFeek surprised his new wife Rebecca with a song he had written especially for her on their big day. He sang “I Do” in front of the friends and family present. (The YouTube video’s views aren’t bad at the moment either!)

Feek wrote a blog post detailing what it was like to sing the heartwarming song. In addition, the post describes the love journey between him and Rebecca. “Rebecca and I had committed to being together. To choose each other and see where it could lead. And although we knew marriage was a possibility, neither of us felt like we could talk about it seriously,” the post begins.

Feek mentions that it was his daughter Indiana who was the deciding factor for the couple to get married. “Her love for her mom is so big and so important in her life. Neither Rebecca nor I wanted to hurt that in any way. And so we just waited and watched to see if Indiana would ever get the idea that Rebecca could be more than just a friend to her dad and to her,” Feek writes.

But then, one morning in late March, Indiana surprised the couple with a shocking admission.I asked Indy and she said to me: “Mrs. Rebecca, I think you should marry Papa…” … And then Indy looked at me and said, “And I told Miss Rebecca that my mom has been gone for a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother…”

With Indiana’s blessing, the wedding went ahead. According to Feek, the wedding took place “under a beautiful timber gazebo here in Greycliff, Montana.” The post ends on a very sweet note when Feek says that Rebecca gave Indiana the gift of becoming a mother again. In return, Indiana gave Rebecca the gift of being a mother.

This is all too sweet for me. No, I’m not crying! My eyes naturally water at certain times of the day, okay?!
