A man was shot and killed by a Craig police officer and a Moffat County sheriff’s deputy in a mobile home park Friday night, officials said Saturday.
On Friday at around 9:40 p.m., an officer with the Craig Police Department and a deputy with the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a man with a gun at the Cedar Mountain Mobile Home Community – 925 West 1st St. in Craig – according to a joint news release from both departments.
When the two arrived at the scene, they found a man pointing a gun, the press release said.
Information about what happened after the officer and his deputy arrived was not available, but the incident ended with police officers shooting the man, the news release said.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, the press release said.
The 14th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting, speaking with witnesses and with the officer involved and his deputy, both of whom have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Both departments will also conduct an individual, internal investigation.
