Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink takes SDGA Sanford Series title – Mitchell Republic

SIOUX FALLS – Just a month after her high school state championship triumph, Allison Meyerink of Mitchell added another win to her already impressive record, winning the South Dakota Golf Association’s Sanford Series Championship on Monday.

She finished the day with a championship-winning 1-over 74 at Minnehaha Country Club, finishing just ahead of Olivia Braun of Aberdeen at 2-over 75. The two competed for the state championship in early June and met again on Monday.

The pair both had strong first nine holes and were tied going into the final nine holes. However, Braun gained a big advantage after Meyerink made a double bogey on the 10th hole to pull ahead by 3 shots after 13 holes. The final five holes, however, were very different for the two.

Meyerink made a birdie on the 14th hole and played steadily the rest of the match, shooting par on the final four holes. Braun, on the other hand, made bogey on four of the remaining five holes, including the 18th, to fall one stroke behind Meyerink, her first victory of the 2024 Sanford Series.

Two other Mitchell competitors also competed in the event. Maddie Childs had a strong performance, finishing in fourth place after shooting 4-over 77. Ava Eliason finished in 12th place after shooting a round of 96.

Jake Olson of Watertown won the boys championship after shooting 3-under-par 68, one stroke ahead of Riley Christensen of Sioux Falls.

In the boys’ competition, Dakota Munger of Chamberlain led the region’s competitors, finishing 19th with a 7-stroke over 78. Ryder Halligan of Winner finished 23rd with a 9-stroke over 80. Asher Dannenbring of Mitchell shot 43 over the first nine holes but withdrew from contention after completing the ninth hole.

The Sanford Series featured the best high school players from the 2024, 2025 and 2026 age groups, and after a six-event tour, the top 30 boys and top 12 girls qualified for the finals at Minnehaha Country Club.
