Never Mets ended its first season on OWN last night, but viewers of the relationship drama can look forward to a second season premiering next year. Hosted by Ta’Rhonda Jones, the series follows seven couples who dated virtually for weeks or months and then meet in person and live in a house together.

OWN revealed further information about the series in a press release.

Today, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced that THE NEVER EVER METS, its new dating and relationship series, has been renewed for a second season before the finale airs Friday, June 21 at 8/7c. The first season was the most-watched Friday night original series on ad-supported cable in all key African American demos during its airtime, consistently posting double-digit increases throughout the season and has been watched by nearly 4 million viewers on the cable network to date.

“With its impressive growth over the course of its first season and its placement as the most popular Friday night series across all key African-American demos, ‘The Never Ever Mets’ clearly resonated well with our viewers and validated the need to offer fans a second season,” said Tina Perry, President of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

Hosted by actress and musician Ta’Rhonda Jones, THE NEVER EVER METS follows seven couples who meet virtually, some for months, some for years, and transfer their online relationships into the real world – while living in a house together and completing a series of relationship-building challenges and exercises. The host and relationship experts facilitate these challenges and meetings, which include couples therapy sessions and unconventional bonding activities to test whether the couples’ internet love can survive off-screen.

The first season culminates this Friday with five couples remaining, giving rise to great self-reflection and realizations about intimacy and romantic relationships for each person in the house.

THE NEVER EVER METS is produced by Bunim Murray Productions for OWN.

The premiere date of the second season will be announced later.
