Journey is working on a new song about their fans

Trip‘S Jonathan Cain has announced that the band is working on new music, but whether it will be part of a new album is still undecided.

The revelation came when Cain spoke about the band’s fall tour in the UK with Classic Rock and whether they plan to release songs from their latest album, the 2022 album Freedomin the setlist.

“Right now we’re only playing one (‘Let It Rain’), but we’re working on a whole new song and if we get that up and running we might play that too,” he said. “We’ll see.”

He added that the tune was “brand new, straight out of the box” and noted, “If it gets accepted, who knows… maybe it’ll be a single.”

“It’s called ‘This Town.’ It’s about the fans. This 50-year relationship we have with them,” he says. “We wrote it about their loyalty. The chorus is, ‘Tonight is all about this town.'”

When asked if Journey will release a new album in the future, Cain replies: “I don’t know yet. It’s so tough out there.”

Meanwhile, Cain also says that the band’s biggest hit, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” has some celebrity fans, noting that the most surprising of these was Bruce Springsteen.

“There was a charity gala, and Bruce, Elton-John And Lady Gaga “I sang it on stage somewhere,” he says. “It’s somewhere on the Internet, you can listen to it.”

Journey is currently on tour with Def Leppardthe next show is in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Their UK tour begins in Cardiff on October 30. For a full list of dates, see Travel music.
