FIRST WARNING ACTION DAY: Tracking heat and high humidity through Friday

FIRST WARNING ACTION DAY: Tracking heat and high humidity through Friday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – A Warning of excessive heat is still in force and has been EXTENDED again from the National Weather Service Phoenix until FRIDAY 8:00 p.m. for Yuma and Imperial Valley.

Daily highs and lows will be slightly above normal, but our heat index will remain high at 122.

A Weather Authority First Alert ACTION DAY(S) is issued and remains valid until FRIDAY because of the heat, high humidity and high heat index. These conditions do not help our body cool down throughout the day and we feel even hotter than the actual air temperature.

It is very important to be aware of heat protection at all times of the day and to know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The dew point will remain elevated, ranging from 15 to 21 degrees Celsius throughout the day, possibly even reaching 21 degrees Celsius, which will make for a very muggy and sticky feeling.

The additional monsoon moisture increases the daily probability of rain and thunderstorms until Wednesday.

Greater chances of rain are expected in Yuma County, while the chances are lower in Imperial County.

It will remain hot and humid all day Friday, and I don’t expect any significant improvement over the next few days. Therefore, the First Alert ACTION Days remain in effect.
