Cate Blanchett: I forget that I’m famous!

Cate Blanchett is “constantly surprised” by her own fame.
The 53-year-old actress has been a fixture in Hollywood for decades and was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the drama “Tar,” but she admitted that despite her global success, it’s always a shock when she’s approached in public.
She told The Sunday Express magazine: “There is so much to do in the world and I have learnt over the years to just concentrate on the task at hand. So when someone taps me on the shoulder in the supermarket I am always surprised.”
Meanwhile, Cate, who won a BAFTA for her role as a famous conductor accused of sexual abuse, added that she thinks the world is “monstrous” and approached her latest role with the awareness that, at heart, she is still playing someone who should be considered human.
She said: “For me personally, the world we live in is monstrous. It enables, invites, entrenches and often rewards monstrous behavior.
“It’s very easy to call her monstrous, but the film is much more ambiguous. It begins with a close-up, not of a person, but of a mobile phone, an instrument used to quickly acquire opinions and gossip and to spread information. The character, on the other hand, is enigmatic. In a way, I felt that I was playing a state of being or a set of atmospheres, just as I was playing a person.
