Death toll in Gaza war exceeds 39,000 as Israeli attacks continue

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that Israeli occupation forces carried out three massacres of civilians in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, leaving 23 people dead and 91 injured. This brings the total number of victims of Israeli aggression since October 7 to 39,006 dead and 89,818 injured.

In addition, Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), announced that Israeli forces fired on a United Nations convoy heading to Gaza City on Sunday, despite it bearing clear UN markings and being coordinated with Israeli authorities. A UN agency vehicle was hit by five bullets as it waited at an Israeli military checkpoint in central Gaza.

In a related development, the Israeli army issued a statement calling on civilians to leave the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Yunis and move towards the Al-Mawasi area. This move is in preparation for a new military operation triggered by rocket launches from what Israel calls the eastern zone of Khan Yunis, a humanitarian zone. The operation targets buildings suspected to be used by the Hamas organization, according to accurate intelligence. Residents are advised to stay away from the combat zone.

Meanwhile, Israeli army reports showed that seven Israeli soldiers were injured in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.

According to data published by the occupying army on its website, the number of soldiers injured since the war began on October 7, 2023 is 4,199, including 2,147 during the ground operation that began on October 27, 2023.

For its part, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), reported that it attacked an Israeli Merkava 4 tank with an Al-Yassin 105 grenade in the Al-Furqan neighborhood of Tal Al-Sultan, west of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

It added that it had killed and wounded members of an Israeli force holed up in a building in the Al-Furqan neighborhood of Tal Al-Sultan, west of Rafah. Al-Qassam also said that, in cooperation with the Popular Front, it had bombarded occupation forces with mortar shells northeast of Bureij camp in central Gaza.
