For the first time since 2021, the Berks Book Bonanza returns.

A scaled-down version of the sale will be held Sept. 20-22 at the company’s new headquarters on the Berks County South Campus at 400 E. Wyomissing Ave. in Mohnton.

Since there was no home for the past two years, the sale was cancelled.

But in April, Berks County commissioners approved a five-year contract to host the book sale on the South Campus, a move that should give the event stability, at least for a short time. The contract provides nearly 100,000 square feet of storage space for book sales at the facility.

The Book Bonanza is one of the area’s largest book sales operations, offering used hardcover and paperback books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles and games at prices of $2 or less for general items. They also offer specialty materials and collectible books.

According to the organizers, there are some notable differences this year compared to previous sales:

• The sale will run over three days: September 20th from 10am to 7pm; September 21st from 10am to 7pm; and September 22nd from 10am to 5pm

• There will be no advance ticket sales to the public. Admission is free all three days, with Sunday set aside for a $5 fill-a-bag sale.

• No carts are allowed in the building.

• No storage space is available for bulk orders. Customers are requested to make smaller trips to their vehicle during the sale period.

• Sales are by cash or check only. There are no ATMs available on site. Identification is required for all check purchases.

The entrance to the sale is located behind the building on the covered ramp.

The Book Bonanza is run by over 70 volunteers, and proceeds from sales are split equally between the Friends of Berks County Libraries and the local chapter of the American Association of University Women.
